Non-Compliance FAQ
Equity and Access Services (EAS) officially interprets and administers the Safety and Protection of Minors on Campus policy. If you have any further questions, email EAS at youth@vcu.edu or call (804) 828-1524.
Sanctions depend on the severity of the violation. See the Non-Compliance Procedures for details.
Active harm is an action or behavior that causes immediate danger or harm to a Minor. Any action that would constitute child abuse or neglect under the Code of Virginia would be active harm, including but not limited to physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, or child neglect.
A Probationary Period is an improvement period for the Program and Program Supervisor to demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with the Safety and Protection of Minors Policy. The Program Supervisor must complete another Program in full compliance with the Policy for the Probationary Period to end.
Once a Program is registered with the Protection of Minors Office, the Program Supervisor and Program Staff are notified by email at regular intervals by the Protection of Minors Office via the Ideal-Logic system. Notification emails are sent for individual Staff compliance requirements (training and background checks) and for Program compliance requirements (documentation and overall staff compliance). Program Supervisors can view their Staff’s compliance at any time by logging into their registration. The Ideal-Logic system also provides email notifications prior to the expiration of required training and background checks, so that Program Staff have no gaps in their compliance.
